Routes
The landscape in Belmonte de Tajo is defined by red clay soil covered in a blanket of vineyards and olive groves. Areas that stand out include Horcajo and its beautiful landscape, Dehesa and its reforested pine trees, and Veguilla, made up of irrigated land with dry land.

The heart of Southeast Madrid
Belmonte de Tajo, which belongs to the Las Vegas region, is one of the most agricultural towns in the Community of Madrid. Old grapevines create great wines within the Vinos de Madrid Designation of Origin, and the fruit of centuries-old olive trees is used to make top-quality olive oils.
The economy for most of the population is based on agriculture, and the dry land plays an important role for the vineyards as well as for the olive and grain plantations.
The essence of the urban architecture continues to be defined by Belmonte de Tajo’s wine-making tradition and the town is built around two squares, Puerta de Valencia and Plaza de la Constitución, which houses the impressive church of Nuestra Señora de la Estrella.
